WHAT IS A GIF
GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is a digital image format which supports animation, creating short, silent, looping, moving images. GIFs are encountered on networked screens where they are casually viewed, shared, collected, modified and performed.
GIF is also a medium for artistic creation and an experimentation ground for exploring new concepts of time and space.
"GIF: Morphologies of a copyleft tale" will be less about GIF Art* and more about
user-generated GIFs and internet GIF culture.
GIFs employ creative techniques and imageries, reinforcing visual expressive forms, freely copying, decontextualizing and defying or defining norms, while also generating a highly shareable content which is massively propagated through social networks.
